When I first started my job at The Fig Tree, my coworkers found it hilarious that I, at 21 years old, was obsessed with VeggieTales. I guess I’ve still got some serious childhood nostalgia, because when I was asked to review MacLarry & the Stinky Cheese Battle I was ridiculously excited – and I was definitely not let down!

MacLarry & the Stinky Cheese Battle tells the story of a young and creative cucumber in a village of Barber-barians, MacLarry. The Barber-barians are in a pranking feud with the Romans, and are known for giving hilariously bad haircuts! MacLarry, however, doesn’t share the talents that neighbors and father have, so he never gets to participate in the pranks and his inventions are pushed aside.  When the ultimate and cheesiest prank goes completely sour, the Barber-barians and the Romans must rely on MacLarry’s inventions to protect them from a cheese prank gone wrong. Both villages learn that accepting each other’s differences makes life so much better!

I had so much fun watching this movie! It’s comical, cute and just the right amount of crazy with a spot-on message. Although it’s tagged as “getting along with others,” it’s also about accepting who you are and appreciating interpersonal differences – it’s a true reminder that God blesses each of us with different gifts! In a world of bullying and conformity, this message could not be more important for kids to hear! This movie will totally entertain your family while also highlighting the importance of Romans 12:4-6.
